Rex Hollis McNatt

Born in Belgreen, Alabama May 25, 1924. Passed Saturday evening on October 7, 2017 of natural causes. Aged 93 years. Preceded in death by his parents Ida Bell and Rufus Gilbert McNatt. Brother to four sisters: Annie Maud Weatherbee, Ruby Vinson, Pauline Hammock and Betty Crouch. Three brothers: Neil, Leon and Billy McNatt. All are reunited in Heaven. Additionally, husband to the late Donna Johnson McNatt (divorced). Survived by his loving family. Son Hollis McNatt and daughter -in -law Lisa. Grandfather to Jeremy and Lindsay. Daughter Charlotte Lucero. Grandfather to Andrea, Donald and Frankie. Additionally, Great Grandfather of six and Great-Great Grandfather of eight. Rex adored his Grandchildren. All nineteen of them! As he would say...He/She?s a Dandy upon greeting them! Raised on an orange farm in Winter Garden, Florida. Served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in World War II from 1942 to 1946. Moved to California after serving in the Army where he met and married Donna Johnson. They settled in West Sacramento where he lived until his passing. Rex was a Teamster from the Local 150. He drove for several local trucking firms, retiring from his favorite; Teichert Construction at the age of 62. In retirement Rex enjoyed riding his bicycle gathering many treasures along the way. As he got older he was unable to balance enough to ride his bike so he switched to an electric scooter. Never one to sit idle, he was out and about each and every day. His most favorite thing to do was gamble. Never one to pass a weekly trip to Reno by car or bus. He drove himself until it was unsafe; then he took the bus until the weekly gambler buses stopped running. Then his son Hollis and grandson Frankie took over the driving trips. Rex actually drove himself to Reno and back home at the age of 91. There was always a bet to be made whether on a crap table, football game or the ponies. He lived for the thrill and excitement of one day hitting it big! Although he had many wins through the years he never hit the ?BIG ONE? but Boy! Did he have a fun time trying! Rex will be laid to rest at the Veterans Cemetery in Dixon, California
