James "Rich" Richard Packard

James Richard (Rich) Packard passed away on September 4, 2019 at his home in Roseville, CA. He was born August 25, 1947 in Tampa, FL to Robert C. and Pearl Stanford Packard. He married the love of his life, Cathy West on September 28th 1985, enjoying almost 34 years together. Rich was a graduate of El Camino High School in Sacramento and earned an AA Degree from Cosumnes River College, also in Sacramento. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War. He retired from the California Farm Bureau in 2016. Survivors include his wife, Cathy, Daughter, LaDonna and Granddaughter Lilliuana. He is also survived by his brothers William and Robert (Barbara) of Florida, Sisters MaryAnn (Leon) Hobson of Florida and Betty Hollander of Sacramento. Also survived by mother-in-law, Betty West, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He will always be remembered for his love of family, friends, nature and animals. He loved hiking, photography and traveling the world. We will always remember his kindness, crazy sense of humor and endless jokes. He always kept us laughing! He will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. Any donations can be made to the Placer County SPCA in his honor at placerspca.org.
