                                                                                1939-2022

 

George Cox quietly passed away in his sleep after a 5 year loosing battle with Alzheimer’s.  He was blessed with a wonderful life. His Parents were George T. Cox and Estelle Cahow. George was born and raised in Sacramento, attending Newton Booth School, Sutter Jr. High and CK McClatchy, graduating mid-term 57. He enlisted with USAF serving 4 years 7 months 2 weeks and 5 days.

For his life work he choose Law Enforcement, 30 years with the Sacramento Police Department, both as a Patrol Officer and a Detective. During those early years he earned his BA in Criminal Justice from Sacramento State. George also played 10 years for Sacramento PD in the Pig Bowl.

After Retirement, George enjoyed playing golf and he was also a member of SIRS 117 serving 2 years as their BIG SIR.

George was predeceased by his brother, Lynn Cox, sister Betty Atkins, Daughter, Jamie Kunin, and his Granddaughter Heather Smith.

George is survived by his loving wife Diana, devoted sister Elma Fortier and his 3 daughters. Suzie Lewandowski (John ) Sherry Stephenson and Lindsay Silliman ( Wayne ). Not to be left out, Grandchildren Christina, Keirah, Kyleigh, Tyler, Justin, Joshua, Lacey, Joey, Matt, Mercie ( Connor ) and Luke. Also, Great Grandchildren De'Antes, DaZavion, Diliyah and Felicity, along with a plethora of nieces and nephews.

He loved his family and will be missed but, George lives on in our Hearts.
