On November 30, 2022, Joshua E. Mitchell peacefully passed on to his ultimate divine destination at the blessed age of 99 years. He was preceded in death by wife Mildred, parents, James and Amelia, stepmother Nina, affectionately called "Nen", as well as seven siblings: John, James, Jules, Marcos, Joel, Jane and Mitchelina.
Joshua will forever be remembered for his light-hearted spirit, unique and witty sense of humor, with a contagious laugh and illuminating smile. He enjoyed his favorite pastimes fully, from playing tennis in his earlier years to dancing, gracing listeners with his velvety baritone singing voice, playing jazz albums, (particularly on early, relaxed Sunday mornings) and outings to new interesting places, well on into his golden years.
Hailing from La Boca, in the Canal Zone, Republic of Panama, this high school valedictorian went on to a 39-year career at Chase Bank, having started on the ground-floor as a messenger there in his teens. His service to finance continued after emigrating to the U.S. as an accountant for yet another 17 years, while also developing himself and his talents as a member of Toastmasters to become a great orator, in both Spanish and English. When called upon, Joshua was also quite gifted with his hands, dabbling very successfully in both drawing and small-scale carpentry, though doing neither vocationally.
Joshua loved sharing memories of fun times, enjoying the blessing of having a wonderful extended family, to include many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. He kept them all close in his thoughts and heart.
Surviving Joshua in this life are his daughters, Lois and Francine, as well as his granddaughter, Janelle. They will always love and treasure him.
Service will be held on December 21, 2022 at 10:00am St.Charles Borromeo Church, Sacramento, CA
