Lucy Cheng Obituary

Lucy Peili Cheng                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  September 10, 1962 - July 4, 2022

After a long battle with pancreatic cancer,  Lucy Peili Cheng passed away on July 4, 2022 in Davis, CA at the age of 59. She leaves behind her partner, Jim Chase; her son, Channing; her daughter, Sabrina; her sister, Catherine Yang; her niece, Lincy; and countless friends and loved ones.

Lucy was born Sept 10, 1962 in Xi’an, China, to her father Orchard (born Hong-Jue) Yang and mother Lijin Chen. She was an excellent student growing up and graduated from Beijing University. At age 23 she immigrated to the U.S. and gave birth to her son. 15 years later, she gave birth to her daughter in China.

Lucy studied German at UC Davis and had a life long love for learning. For her, life was an adventure and she worked across multiple fields, from running her own translation service to selling real estate and insurance. She loved to read and enjoyed biking, singing, and dancing.

Those who knew Lucy, remember her exuberance and eccentricity. She could befriend any stranger she met and she loved her friends more than anything. All her life, Lucy was a matchmaker; her great joy in life was to help her friends find love.

Lucy, like her father, was a member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. Her family thanks them for all the support they provided Lucy.

Lucy‘s ashes will be buried with her father at Roselawn Cemetery in Livermore, CA. She wanted to have a place where those who missed her could visit her.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
