My condolences to Gary Pruner family for your loss I knew Gary when he was my art instructor at ARC College from 1972 - 1975 I really didn’t know him until I broke the ice and started to chat with and saw his paintings at an art show he did the Cherry series back then he showed me how to focus my attention towards realism even thought I was into cubism and primitive paintings but he realized that I was different student so I learned the fundamentals from his class lectures and study plates then he told me to continue with my style but while I was his student he wanted me to develop the techniques he mastered after that it was smooth sailing and I received a A + and B towards painting in art A & B classes I wish I could have further my collaborated efforts with him but we were very busy with working RIP Gary it was nice having you as my art instructor.

Gary Pruner,Joe Patitucci, Mr. Chambers. They all taught us so much more than art. They helped us grow philosophically and so often their doors were open early in the morning. Their doors were open early to help kids deal with life. I wonder if such exceptional people are around helping high schoolers today like those guys? Tough act to follow. So full of life and intelligence. Huge loss when they were gone off to Rio for us kids at Encina. I think the greatest thing a person could say is we still remember and thank them for how they helped us beyond the art classroom.

I was so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. My prayers to his family. He was my art professor at American River College. He was also a good friend of my mother, Norma. Gary was an exceptional artist and teacher. Rest in peace, Gary.

I just learned of Gary's passing and wanted to express my condolences to his family. Like so many others, Mr. Pruner was my art teacher. I met him at Encina High School and he, along with Mr. Patitucci, taught us much more than the techniques of art. He challenged us about thinking for ourselves and valuing individuality as we experienced life. His impact on me and my sister was profound even though we didn't keep in touch with him. I will always be greatful for knowing Gary and appreciate the depth of his kindness and mentoring. I will always remember him and he has a special place in my heart.
